In the last couple of days ULIP are gave very handsome returns to their investor. How can u say that, ULIP is not the right instrument for investor. The main causes of each investor to invest money are Return on investment, Tax saving, Insurance, & liquidity The ULIP is the only investment option which full fills all needs.
Whatever Amar Pandit has told is truth only. I know a number of people who have bought ULIPs is last 3-4 years. Although the quoted NAVs have gone up substantially, the total fund value is absolutely terrible becuase of deduction in Units. The general public doesn't understand this completely due to lack of financial skills. The rise in NAV is reduced if the total number of units are reduced every year. Say we have 100 Units jan 2007 @ NAV 14, total fund value Rs.1400/-. On Jan 2008, the NAV is Rs.16.1(ass 15% gain) but the Units are reduced to 80 deducting mortality, admin and other charges.
