How to save my income tax payment of Rs.35000/- for the whole academic year 2005-06

CAN i GET TAX REFUND iF i INVEST AN AMOUNT OF Rs.35000/- in the fixed deposit. I have already paid about Rs.1500/- monthly since march 2006.
